Free Summer Outdoor Yoga Series
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, outdoor yoga is a fantastic way to enjoy nature while focusing on your inner and outer self. And the challenge of practicing on uneven surfaces helps improve your balance and stability. Let’s get moving!
The patio construction rules out the possibility of outdoor yoga at the Center this summer. We changed the location to McKee Farms Park, on the lawn near the Kids’ Crossing playground.
The six-week series runs 9:00-10:00 each Tuesday from May 23 through June 27. (The first class will be from 9:00-10:15 to allow time for explaining poses.)
All are welcome for this free series. Bring your own mat. If the day is chilly, include a sweatshirt of throw for savasana.

Memorial Day Event and Pizza
Here is an email from Carolyn Hook for all AWG members.
From: Carolyn Hook

Fifteen men from the Revolutionary War through the Vietnam War are buried at a beautiful little cemetery on County Road M in Fitchburg. The list I have is from 2012, so there may be more veterans from current wars resting there.
Please join me at the Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday, May 26th at 10:00 A.M. to pay our respects with Memorial Day just around the corner.
Afterward we will venture down the road a couple of miles to Sugar River Pizza for lunch. Many of you know this restaurant and love it like I do. If it’s raining, you are on your own! I melt in the rain! Hope you will join me.

Today’s BoomeR Magazine
In case you didn’t get the link to Today’s BoomeR Magazine from John Vardalas (our April speaker), here is the link to the spring issue.
2023 Program Updates
We have a new presenter for October. Our own Jo Anne Lindberg stepped up to offer her services. Her presentation at the October 11 meeting will be: “The Art of Self-Care: A Hands-on Workshop.” A 30-year veteran of Asian medicine, Jo Anne will help us develop skills such as breathwork, self-massage, and pressure points.
We have one other change. Barry Callen (who is moving to Ecuador in August), and Elissa Gonda (who is getting married in June), swapped dates. That means our presentation on June 14 will be on self-hypnosis, and our November 8 presentation will be on acupuncture.
The updated calendar is downloadable from the Program Calendar tab.

Outdoor Yoga is Back!
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, outdoor yoga is a fantastic way to enjoy nature while focusing on your inner and outer self. And the challenge of practicing on uneven surfaces helps improve your balance and stability.
Since this summer’s planned patio construction outside the Fitchburg Community / Senior Center preempts using that space for yoga, we must find an alternative location. While that issue is yet to be resolved, mark your calendar for the first class on Tuesday, May 23. The time will be either 9:00 or 9:15, with the location to be determined. Stay tuned for updates.
Linda Gorchels will be your outdoor yoga guide. She earned RYS 200 yoga and yin yoga certifications from Yoga Alliance and taught two outdoor yoga series for the Fitchburg Senior Center last summer.
