Let’s try the Ice Age Trail walk again and hope the air quality remains good this time. The terrain is a mix of a path in the woods, a bike trail and a couple of gradual inclines. The trail is located right off PD (McKee Road) near High Point Rd. Length of the walk is about 2-2 1/2 miles. We will meet in the lower parking lot at the Senior center.
DATE:  Friday, July 7
TIME: 9:00 am
LOCATION: Ice Age Trail off McKee road
MEET: We will meet in the lower parking lot at the Senior Center and carpool to the location.
Please let me know if you can make the walk so we don’t leave anyone behind.
Thank you and hope to see you on Friday.

Walking May 31

Earlier today, the lupines were nearly at peak on this walk so I hope you can join us.  It’s another ‘might be buggy later’ walk
especially with rain forecast at the end of the week. So, time to do it now!  The day is expected to heat up so we’ll start at 9:00 AM
The total walk is about 3 to 3 1/2 miles with lots of flowers along the way.  About half of the walk is on a paved bike trail
and the middle half is on dirt trails in the south end of the arboretum.  There aren’t many tree roots or rocks but there are some
hills.  All the more reason to enjoy this while the flowers are blooming – wild geraniums and lupines mostly.
DATE:  Wednesday, May 31st
PLACE:  meet behind Tuscany and Wyndham Garden near the B-cycle area (at the top of the hill – McKee & Fish Hatchery)
Let me know if you need more specific directions.  phone 608-274-2768   email ksosnouski@att.net
TIME:   9:00 AM
Please let me know if you will be joining the group on this walk.  It’s important to know who’s coming so we don’t leave
anyone behind.
Enjoy the weekend.

Memorial Day Event and Pizza

Here is an email from Carolyn Hook for all AWG members.

From: Carolyn Hook

To :Active Women’s Group

Fifteen men from the Revolutionary War through the Vietnam War are buried at a beautiful little cemetery on County Road M in Fitchburg. The list I have is from 2012, so there may be more veterans from current wars resting there.

Please join me at the Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday, May 26th at 10:00 A.M. to pay our respects with Memorial Day just around the corner.

Afterward we will venture down the road a couple of miles to Sugar River Pizza for lunch. Many of you know this restaurant and love it like I do. If it’s raining, you are on your own! I melt in the rain! Hope you will join me.

2023 Program Updates

We have a new presenter for October. Our own Jo Anne Lindberg stepped up to offer her services. Her presentation at the October 11 meeting will be: “The Art of Self-Care: A Hands-on Workshop.”  A 30-year veteran of Asian medicine, Jo Anne will help us develop skills such as breathwork, self-massage, and pressure points.

We have one other change. Barry Callen (who is moving to Ecuador in August), and Elissa Gonda (who is getting married in June), swapped dates. That means our presentation on June 14 will be on self-hypnosis, and our November 8 presentation will be on acupuncture.

The updated calendar is downloadable from the Program Calendar tab.
